TOP ALBUMS (no particular order)
- TV On The Radio - Dear Science
- Wolf Parade - At Mount Zoomer (best show I saw all year too)
- Conor Oberst - Conor Oberst
- Okkervil River - The Stand Ins
- Los Campesinos! - We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed
- The Hold Steady - Stay Positive
- Moby - Last Night
- Bloc Party - Intimacy
I DON'T KNOW
- Kings of Leon - Only By The Night (definitely better than the last one, but when did they stop going for Southern Strokes and move onto 3 Doors Down? they were once one of my favs, now just another band)
- Santogold - Santogold (really catchy and good, but I got burned out on it quick)
- Lil Wayne - The Carter III (I see why people like but I can only listen to it so much, his ESPN blog is genius though)
- Kanye West - 808's and Heartbreak (haven't heard enough to decide, but after a few tracks of Kanye singing, I lose the plot)
WHY?
- Fleet Foxes - this album is in everyone's top-5, but I can't listen to it at all without cringing and turning it off. This stuff just sounds like an arrogant pompous attempt at folksy bluegrass (which I typically like). Doesn't pass the sniff test....FAIL
- Vampire Weekend - this stuff is horrible, no one can tell me otherwise
- Ryan Adams - Cardinology (Strangers Almanac and Heartbreaker are two of my favorites ever, but I'm starting to give up)
- Coldplay - Viva La Vida (this is actually ending up on a lot of year end lists. maybe its my fault for ever liking them in the first place, but this seals the deal of me not being able to roll with the Coldplay anymore)
- The Killers - And You Thought Sam's Town Sucked... (see Coldplay)
MOVIES
- American Teen (so good)
- Wall-E
- Step Brothers
READING
Ashamed to say I read no books this year - that is a resolution for next year (along with the gym more). But shout out to New York magazine and Kentucky Sports Radio - all I really read regularly and/or enjoy
Good year to all and let's hope the CATS bring it together in '09 and make a run.
